| Currently, pruned oil palm fronds (OPF) are underused and their existence on palm plantation has created a significant issue of disposal. On immature and young mature palm trees, rhinoceros beetles are the serious pest. This harm created by the pest resulted in greater crop loss owing to beetle harm in the first year of harvest. The tractor mounted mulcher blade produced by Howard Company is currently used in mulching the OPF. The implement performance is low in pulverizing palm fronds and thus discouraged farmers from patronizing the implement. | En manglares de Marismas Nacionales, Nayarit se analizaron 300 muestras compuestas de suelo colectadas mediante el método de la barrena para analizar el contenido de CS en dos temporadas: lluvias (año 2004) y sequía (año 2005), por el método del analizador. De la temporada de sequía se tomaron 46 muestras para cada componente edáfico: fracción mineral del suelo, biomasa subterránea y mantillo, a las cuales se les evaluó además N, S, P, K, Ca, Mg, pH, CE y textura. Todas las variables se relacionaron con la clase de geoforma y el tipo de manglar. Los promedios más altos de CS se encontraron en las geoformas Isa e Ise (117.6 y 128.5 Mg C ha-1, respectivamente). | ABSTRACT Aiming to support projects and managements of irrigation for vegetables in the Mid-North region of Mato Grosso state, Brazil, this paper determined crop evapotranspiration (ETc), crop coefficients (Kc) and water response function of summer squash (Curcubita pepo) cv. ‘Italiana’ under different cultivation conditions. The plantations were conducted in the dry season of the region (July to October 2016), using 2.5 kg m-2 of millet straw (grass) and crotalaria straw (legume) and bare soil. | A field experiment was conducted for ten years in a sandy soil in the north part of the Paraná State, Brazil. The soil samples were collected at 0-10 cm depth, both under the coffee canopy and in the inter row space between the coffee plants, in the following treatments: Control, Leucaena leucocephala, Crotalaria spectabilis, Crotalaria breviflora, Mucuna pruriens, Mucuna deeringiana, Arachis hypogaea and Vigna unguiculata. | O adequado suprimento de N é primordial para se obter alta produtividade de sementes de feijão, entretanto, as respostas a esse nutriente, em sistema de plantio direto, podem variar em função da espécie e quantidade de palha. O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar a resposta do feijoeiro à aplicação de N, em sistema de plantio direto, sobre palhada de milho, milheto e braquiária. | Objetivou-se avaliar a produção de biomassa, composição química e os atributos químicos do solo do consórcio milho-leguminosas forrageiras numa comunidade do município de Sobral, CE. Foram avaliados os consórcios milho-cunhã e milho-crotalária num delineamento de blocos completos casualizados, com quatro repetições. | Mulches bring several benefits to lettuce cultivation. This work evaluated the effect of mulches on the cultivation of iceberg lettuce, cv. Lucy Brown. The treatment plots were: 1- no mulch and no weed control (control); 2- no mulch and weed control every 15 days; 3- sugarcane bagasse mulch of 2 cm thickness; 4- black plastic mulch; 5- double-faced plastic mulch (silver/black). Data were collected in regard to plant cycle when in the field, amount of chlorophyll in the leaves, productivity (individual weight per head) and amount of nutrients absorbed by the leaves. Double-faced plastic mulch provides the highest productivity and the highest values for the amount of chlorophyll, nitrogen, phosphorus, sulfur, boron and iron accumulation in the leaves. |
